Decking

You may all think that we've been having a quiet and relaxing time over the last couple of months, but instead we've been working extremely hard, building a deck all around Mum's bach, ready for her return. We haven't been allowed to post any pictures of it as she wanted it to be a surprise. Well, she arrived yesterday, so now you can all see what it looks like.

We'd like to thank Pete (Adele's partner), for giving up a number of his weekends to help us out. I was even promoted from passing tools to actually banging in nails. We managed to finish it a couple of days before Mum flew in. Let's hope we get lots of lovely sunny weather to enjoy it!

Cheeky Animals

We have some very cheeky animals at the moment. One of our chickens has taken to walking down to the house in the mornings and glaring at us through the patio doors trying to get us out to give her some breakfast.

Millie had fun today, she decided to play hide and seek with Titan. Titan was too smart and found her straight away!

New Additions to the Family!

Our very clever ewe, that we've now had for 2 years, gave birth to 2 healthy lambs last night, despite the wind, rain and cold. One was a little smaller and shivering this morning so I had to put a felt rug on it. They're very cute and have been out exploring the paddock today.

Short visit to the Ski Field

John and I managed to escape for a couple of days skiing. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us and we only managed a half day before it was too wet and really poor visibility so we called it a day and headed home early.

We stopped in Taupo on the way back for some lunch and to hit a bucket of golf balls into Lake Taupo.

Not quite the holiday planned but at least we had a couple of days away.

Another Weekend of Work

Although it has been raining all weekend, we decided to get into removing the fencing and old chicken pen in our bottom paddock. It was completely overgrown and after a couple of weeks of the sheep eating the leaves off the seedlings, it was then left to us to do the heavy duty work. The plan is to clear the whole bottom area that's overgrown to make much bigger paddocks for the sheep to graze on. Think we've made a good start!

We also managed to split and take a trailer load of wood over to Aunty Rosemary's as a thankyou for borrowing their big chainsaw. A very productive weekend!

Hair Cut

I decided to attack Millie with the sissors today. She was looking very wild and woolly. Now she's a trimmed and pretty puppy! Well the best she could look with my lack of dog grooming skills.

Digging a Ditch

I know that you all think that John's the worker and I'm the one giving the orders, but to show you I'm not lazy, today, to save my husband from more work, I've dug the ditch that was needed to lay electric cable from my mum's bach to her garage. Let's hope it's deep enough and in the right place!
