A Bit of Light Pruning with a Chainsaw!

It was a beautiful weekend with the temp getting up to 17 degrees on Sunday, not bad for mid winter!

John and I were out in the garden and attacked the big tree at the top of our drive as it had grown too big and we were in danger of loosing it completely.

As you can see from the pictures we weren't very subtle, lets hope it recovers well and is even more beautiful in years to come.




The dogs decided that with branches falling down around them that it was safer to sit in the car, bless them!

No Gain without Pain!

While we were collecting some wood for Mum's new deck, poor John dropped a support beam on his big toe and is now hobbling around with a broken toe, OUCH!!!! He does seem to be in the wars at the moment, still nursing a bad knee and strained back, maybe I'm working him too hard!

Happy 3rd Anniversary to my wonderful husband!

Has it really been 3 years already? We've just celebrated by having 3 nights at a wonderful apartment at Gulf Harbour, Whangaparaoa (North of Auckland).


We relaxed, ate far too much and lots of walks along the beach. Totally spoilt. Here's to another 3 and many more after that! xx

More Decorating!

Poor John, I've got him working again. I decided that I wanted to change the yellow walls in our guest suite so I've been painting all weekend and John got roped in to wallpapering the wall behind the bed. He's such a clever man, how was I so lucky to find him? xx

Maori All Blacks v Ireland

We've just spent the evening at Rotorua Stadium, watching the Maori All Blacks playing against Ireland. Fantastic game and really close, end result 31 - 28, Go the All Blacks!

A Sunny Winter's Day

After days of rain and wind, finally we get some lovely sunny weather. Time to get out in the garden and do some tidying up. It's starting to look under control again.

Plumbing

Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts over the last couple of months, no excuse!

Since having the leak we have found out that the house was riddled with dux quest piping, which was used in NZ in the 1980's and then banned for it's outstanding characteristic to spontaneously leak and burst, great. So the other weekend, John was able to add another skill to his list, by completely re-plumbing the house with new piping.

We then had a week of the plasterer putting right all the holes in the walls and ceilings.

My job for this week was to repaint it all. I'm glad to say that the house is now nearly back to normal, just a bit of tiling to do and the upstairs bathroom to renovate; we saw the leak as a good excuse to start replacing the old shower room and putting a bath upstairs. Poor John, will his jobs never end?
