Chicken Update

Just to let you all know, the chickens love their new home and have now stopped laying their eggs all over the show, using their nesting box every day. Hurray!

New Chicken House

The first chicken house that we built for our hens, was a little on the large side, so John decided to re-model the old house and make it more homely and cosy for them.

He cleverly made an insert to be put inside the original house, which provides them with a great nesting area, relaxing zone complete with ladder up to their perch for sleeping.

They're now living it up in their 5 Star accommodation with views over the lake, it's a hard life being a chicken!!

Whilst John was working on the house, all the animals we're watching intently....

Okere Falls Beer Festival

Another bright and beautiful sunny day, and Mum, Adele and myself headed off to Okere Falls to enjoy the delights of their annual beer festival. Way too early in the morning for us to have any beer, but relaxed back, listening to a local live band and enjoying the atmosphere with a coffee. A great way to make the most of our first bank holiday weekend of the season!

Simply Red in Concert

John and I managed to escape last weekend, for a couple of days in Auckland. We had a wonderful time, ate far too much, enjoyed some shopping, both of us had a massage, stayed in the wonderful Waldorf Apartments

and finished it all off with the Simply Red concert on the Sunday night. Oustanding!! Mick Hucknell has such an amazing voice, even if he is now looking a little older! I was up singing and dancing and re-living my youth!!

Decking

You may all think that we've been having a quiet and relaxing time over the last couple of months, but instead we've been working extremely hard, building a deck all around Mum's bach, ready for her return. We haven't been allowed to post any pictures of it as she wanted it to be a surprise. Well, she arrived yesterday, so now you can all see what it looks like.

We'd like to thank Pete (Adele's partner), for giving up a number of his weekends to help us out. I was even promoted from passing tools to actually banging in nails. We managed to finish it a couple of days before Mum flew in. Let's hope we get lots of lovely sunny weather to enjoy it!
