New Shoes

Mya got a very exciting package in the post yesterday. Thank you Louise and the girls, so many goodies but the highlight was a very grown up pair of shoes. 
Think she would have slept in them if she was allowed. 

Qualified

I’ve only gone and done it! I can now say I am a certified financial advisor in Residential Property Lending Level 5.   It was a long 8 months of study but got there in the end. 

School Cross Country

Mya did amazing today. On a very chilly day she ran 1000m school cross country and came 3rd out of 8. She beat one of the favourites to win and ran her heart out. 

John lent her his work Beanie to keep her head warm. 

We thought she deserved cake to celebrate. 

Mya’s Blanket

Mya has gained a few badges at brownies that don’t go on her sash so she decided to have them on a blanket instead. 

She also drew a picture for kiwi conservation which we also added.

Mya did some great climbing today and managed some climbs that she hasn’t been able to do in the past.

On a wet winters day, what else to do than make spaghetti. My new pasta stand works brilliantly.

Tooth Fairy Tonight

Another tooth came out this evening. 

One from the bottom on the right. The tooth fairy left $2 under Mya’s pillow. 

Maths Whizz Champ

Even though Mya is back at school she has still been continuing her maths Whizz work at home in the evenings. We are super proud of her when she came home with a Gold and Bronze certificate presented by the Principal of school for her recent weeks’ works. 

Land Slide

After a council truck kindly reversed into our Punga retaining wall on the drive it has been breaking away. We had very heavy rain at the end of last week and it could not hold up any more and decided to slip down into the drive. 

Poor John got out in the rain on Saturday and once he’d moved and cleared all the soil, started to try and brace up the bank. 

He is amazing and somehow found some bracing wires to attach to and create a mesh wall with chicken wire to hold the soil in place. 

He then used some pungas from around the garden to make good the wall. 

Lastly he had to shovel all the soil up over the back of the punga to fill in where it had slipped from. He was completely exhausted at the end if it but did an amazing job. 

Sewing

We got my sewing machine out today and I showed Mya how to use it. She made a lovely dress for her doll.

Kumara Soup

This weekend I helped make soup, 1200 litres of kumara soup!

Half of the Kumara were grown and harvested by the school kids. 

Total amount that needed washing, scrubbing, peeling, chopping and then cooking 300kg!   

TipTop ice creams donated the containers that we transferred the soup into this morning.

It will then be frozen and over the coming months will be donated to families in need within the Rotorua area.

NZ has 0 active cases of Covid 19.

1504 people in NZ had the disease 

22 people died

As of midnight tonight we enter Level 1.  No more social distancing. Life returns to a new normal. 

Borders remain closed to the world except for returning kiwis and those will quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

Belated Birthday Party

Caelan has his 5th party today. Mya was the grown up girl of the group. 

All the kids had fun hunting for fossils, hand painting and playing. Another excellent cake Adele. 

Sleep Over

Friday night and Mya has her friend Kyra for a sleep over. 

All feeling a little exhausted this morning when the girls decided to get up and go down for breakfast at 1am!!
