Picnic at Lake Okareka

Some of us mums and babies thought we would make the most of our summer and have a picnic at Lake Okareka, located about 10 minutes from Rotorua centre. The only stress we had was stopping the ducks eating our lunch. Motherhood is a hard life!!

Cool New Toy

Thanks to Aunty Dinie (next door), Mya now has a new toy to play with and keep her amused, it also helps with her balance and to teach her to sit and strengthen her legs.  It's also great fun!

Preparing for Winter

In preparation for our trip back to the UK, we have been trying to sort out some clothes for the colder weather.  Mya seems to like her new winter coat.

Visit from Roses Montero

We have been very lucky to have another visitor from the UK.  Roses, a close friend of my mum's (they grew up together) has been travelling New Zealand and managed to include a weekend staying with us here in Rotorua and at Ohope.  It was lovely to see her and catch up on all the news back in the UK.  She's now heading back to Auckland and then home via Oz and Hong Kong.

Mums & Bubs Lakeland Queen Cruise

Today Mya and I had a lovely morning out with a great group of friends on the Lakeland Queen, an hours cruise on Lake Rotorua.

The boat was filled with Yummy Mummies and their gorgeous babes.

Weekend of Work in the Garden

With the weather in the high 20's, John and I, in between Mya's up times, have been working hard in the garden trying to clear the weeds and grasses that have consumed the banks of the drive.

It was a hard slog but we're finally feeling like we've taken back control of the garden.

Have I got a bit of beetroot on my face?!?!

Have Passport Will Travel!

Mya can now officially travel out of the country.  Her New Zealand passport arrived today.  The countdown is on for our trip to the UK!!
Her photo is a real mug-shot picture, bless her.  Crazy that her passport will last for 5 years, there will be a few changes to her appearance in that time!

Tooth

Mya's first tooth broke through this weekend.  The poor little mite has been a bit grizzly, but sucking on her fruit net filled with apple has certainly helped...

also cuddles with Granny.

Perfect Temperature

Whilst the rest of us are either boiling hot or feeling chilly, the lucky Mya is now relaxing at an ambiant temperature of 22 degrees.  Her clever Daddy, with help of friend Pete (big thank you Pete!) installed a heat pump / air conditioning unit into Mya's nursery.

We can now rest easy in the knowledge that our little girl is comfortable in her room, so much so that we may even move in there as well!

Food!

Mya is at last old enough to try solids.  We started with Farex baby rice watered down with breast milk.

To be honest she wasn't bothered about the rice but loved the spoon.

On the second day we tried Farex baby rice (banana and pear flavour), much more popular with little Mya.

UK Visitor

We've been really lucky to have another visitor over the last couple of days.  Jo Foster who I use to live next to in Petersfield and babysit, many moons ago, is travelling around the world and has spent the last couple of weeks in New Zealand.  On her way up to Auckland she has spent a couple of days with us.

This morning Mya and I took her to the Waikite Hot Pools, Mya's best day out, for a good soak and chill out and then this afternoon we've taken Titan for a walk around Hamurana Spring and Jo was brave enough (or was crazy enough?) to take a swim in the spring (at only 10 degrees it's pretty cold).

It's lovely to have her here and only wish she could have stayed longer, maybe next time!
